Cleaning and Disinfection Services

Drinking water in the test tube for chemical and microbiological analysis

We offer a complete range of cleaning and disinfection services – from water storage cisterns to full system chlorination.

We provide comprehensive reports of the components/systems being included and certificates of disinfection.
Examples of services include:
• Water storage tanks
• DHWS Plant
• Complex water systems, including boosted systems, open vented systems and unvented systems
• Local chlorinations in response to positive counts
• Planned preventative maintenance to manage presence of p.aeruginosa in augmented care facilities
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss your requirements with one of our specialists. Which is why we offer a comprehensive range of cleaning and disinfection services, using specialist disinfectants such as chlorine, chlorine dioxide and hydrogen peroxide.

Whether you require disinfection and sterilsation for your water storage tanks, or need other cleaning work carried out, we can help. Our technicians follow rigorous safety precautions when working in confined spaces and once clean we carry out a water tank chlorination and, where required disinfect any water distribution down-services that are directly fed from the tank.

When disinfecting a system which is known to be contaminated with biofilm or legionella bacteria, we may be required to use chlorine dioxide or hydrogen peroxide, as these are a more potent and effective alternativ to chlorine.

From routine maintenance to installations, upgrades, replacements and ensuring compliance, we have the solution to suit.

Water storage tanks provide an environment where pathogens can proliferate. If they are not kept clean the debris/biofilm and sediment often evident in water storage cistern can be used by bacteria both as a nutrient to and a safe habitat. As well as carrying out planned maintenance to ensure water tanks are kept clean, we also offer advice to ensure compliance.

We have over 25 years working with water storage systems from 25 litres to 300,000 litres, including installation, replacement, refurbishment and upgrading.

Thermostatic Mixing Valve/Device maintenance

We provide a completely unrivalled package that far exceeds any other on the market today.

We have developed a unique TMV maintenance programme package, customised to each site, thoroughly detailing all maintenance issues, health and safety issues, legionella related risks and pseudomonas aeruginosa associated risks associated with the thermostatic mixing devices and the outlets/appliances they serve, along with a simple but comprehensive database to compile reports of non-compliances. Our programme is far superior to any other TMV maintenance programme that other companies offer, and exceeds all standards set in the following documents:

· Mechanical Engineering Standards (MES) D08
· BS 7942:2011 Thermostatic mixing valves for use in care establishments
· Health Technical Memorandum 04-01 The control of Legionella, hygiene, "safe" hot water, cold water and drinking water systems- Part A: Design, installation and testing
· Health Technical Memorandum 04-01 The control of Legionella, hygiene, "safe" hot water, cold water and drinking water systems- Part B: Operational Management
· HSG274/The control of legionella bacteria in water systems Approved Code of Practice and guidance(ACoP L8)- Part 2, Section 'Hot and Cold Water Systems',
· BS6700: Design, installation, testing and maintenance of services supplying water for domestic use within buildings and their curtilages.

Personnel carrying out the works are highly trained and highly experienced, having tested in excess of 20,000 TMVs across Yorkshire in 2016 alone and in excess of 80,000 since we first introduced out programme.

We can work with your existing PPM programme through workflow, or can advise and assist with timescales and scheduling to create a PPM programme . Reports can be submitted weekly/monthly/site by site or however is convenient for yourself. Progress reports/meetings can be arranged at any time with very little notice. We can liaise departments/users ourselves and arrange works accordingly, including visiting areas out of hours or at times to suit to minimise disruption to the end user.

Our programme addresses all aspects under the following groups:

Record Keeping/Asset Register Upkeep (Part of WSP) · Provide accurate data advising the location/type of all water outlets associated with TMVs across site.

· Provide accurate database of asset numbers for water outlets across site (including the assigning and affixing of asset numbers where currently without).
· A fully indexed database with unique ID's for quick and accurate reference across reports.
· Users of specific outlets and room types associated with those outlets.

Health and Safety:

· A test of the anti-scald function
· Blended water temperatures at the outlet. These are adjusted at the time to within specification.
· If the TMV is approved by the Buildcert TMV3 approval scheme
· 'Caution HW' Signs present at unregulated outlets where scald risks are high
· Unregulated outlets present in patient/public areas

Legionella Related Risk:

· Presence of flexible connections, banned for use within health care establishments (EFA Ref. DH (2010) 03
· Cold water passing into the hot water system through faulty/missing check valves
· Hot water passing into the cold water system through faulty/missing check valves
· Hot water delivery temperatures (Particularly when <55°C)
· Cold water delivery temperatures (Particularly when >20°C)
· Length of blended temperature leg
· Presence of spray outlets
· All in-line or integral strainers cleaned
· All in-line or integral check valves or other anti-back siphonage devices are in good working order
· All isolating valves are fully open.

Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Risk Minimisation (Augmented Care Units/Departments):

· General cleanliness at water outlets.
· General cleanliness of outlets and associated hardware (taps, sinks, overflows etc).
· Evidence of scale build up on outlets, associated hardware (taps, sinks, overflows etc).
· Evidence of hand washing facilities being used for any purpose other than hand washing (eg disposal of fluids, storing equipment, washing patient equipment.
· Suspected unused/underused outlets to compile/add to your flushing regime.
· Non compliant sanitary/potware, including waste types and waste trap types
· Outlet discharging directly above waste connections causing contaminated 'spray back'

General Maintenance:

· Are there local service valves to carry out TMV maintenance
· Location of all water outlets across the site
· Updated asset capture of all outlets
· Lists of TMVs installed, including manufacturer and Buildcert TMV status
· List of underused outlets where removal may be considered or the outlets added to your flushing programme.

Reports are automatically generated on any (or combination of any) field in the extensive database.

Examples may include:

· TMVs failing their anti-scald test
· Outlets where CW is entering the HW system
· All water outlets with non compliant flexible connections
· All unregulated outlets without ‘Caution Hot Water’ signs present. These can be cross referenced with patient areas?
· All outlets where the HW delivery temperature are 55°C
· List of spray outlets from which a database can be produced to aid your quarterly spray outlet de scale/disinfection programme
· A list of TMVs that are not TMV3 approved
· Outlets not being used for reasons other than their specific purposes.
· TMVs supplying the HW side to a mixer-tap

The range of reports is extensive, and can be customised to suit your specific requirements. Electronic and hard copies of the reports shall be provided. We also provide the service to carry out any remedial works, as required.

Specific method statements, risk assessments, safe systems of works, service standards, training and competence records and schedules shall be provided prior to any works commencing.

Demonstrations can be provided at your convenience, and examples of our reporting package can also be provided upon request. These have been subject to high praise amongst all our customers. References from other NHS Trusts can also be provided upon request.
